Fagaras Mountains ...will make you feel the diffrence....
- Fagaras Mountains are truly the highest, largest and rockiest mountains in the entire Romanian Carpathians (Southern Carpathians, also known as Transylvanian Alps) covering the area of 2 000km2.
- Stretching for more than 70 km from E to W, they embrace more than 20 summits at above 2000 meters (in 60 km of the length the main mountain ridge will not drop below 2000 m).
- Moldoveanu, the highest Romanian peak, can be found here , together with other 5 peaks offering the unique feeling of walking on the clouds, by being elevated at over 2500 m above the sea level. (Moldoveanu – 2 544 m, Negoiu – 2535 m, Viştea Mare – 2527 m, Lespezi – 2522 m, Vânătoarea lui Buteanu – 2507 m and Dara – 2501 m).
- The northern face is steep overlooking the Fagaras Depression, while the southern slopes have gentler gradient.
- The Fagaras Mountains are famous for its glacier lakes and numerous waterfalls. The well-known lake is Balea Lac – our base.
